Fields House [1957]

Ellwood’s Fields House – #18 in the Case Study Programme – was progressive in its complete frame prefabrication – which allowed for the addition of walls, flooring and various other detailing on site. The rectilinear plan was simple: divide the space in two with the bedroom and lounge separated from the entrance hall. As with a majority of the Case Study Houses, the plenum between the inside and the outside was blurred via floor-to-ceiling operable doors and translucent glazing with a pool that extended along the main axis.
