Manufactured by Reuter Products, Peter Ghyczy’s most famed creation – the Garden Egg Chair – quickly became both iconic and emblematic of its time, alongside the creations of Verner Panton, Joe Colombo et al. Appearing as the perfect complement to Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey released in the same year, Ghyczy’s design was one of the first to utilise polyurethane (for its operable outer frame), counterbalancing this harder shell with a more conventional leather/fabric inner.
