Hotel Ezüstpart [1978]

Erno Tillai

Built in Siófok (one of Hungary’s most popular holiday destinations) for the vacationing working class -the Hotel Ezüstpart is a classic example of a 1970s large-scale European resort complex, identified by a striking curvilinear facade with apertures opening to guest’s balconies. Equipped with all the modern amenities including a vast indoor pool facility, the Ezüstpart was carefully detailed and immensely popular but has since been largely forgotten, its size and form serving as a reminder of the optimism of both it’s creator (Ybl prize winning architect Erno Tillai) and its time.
