Comprising one-hundred low cost dwellings, Mario Botta’s design for Novazzano presents a masterplan of acutely gridded, colourful four storey blocks stylistically reminiscent of the Memphis Group’s output. Organised in a ‘U’ formation around an expansive paved area designed for recreation, Botta’s playful interaction with simple, saturated geometries and outdoor space presents a stark response to a social housing brief.
