Villa 1 [2008]

Much like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wingspread, Powerhouse Company’s Villa 1 (their first commission) places emphasis on the basic geometry of the plan, a ‘Y’ shape with three wings that split work, dining and living programmes. A core to the centre helps compose the entrance hall, whilst satisfying vital structural and services requirements. Custom furnishings and varying material palettes throughout (timber to the North, slate to the East, concrete to the South) further assist in deliberate  delineation whilst paying homage to the reduced, open spatial planning of Modern predecessors such as Mies.
