A daring architectural proposition that utilises a laminated Douglas fir arch to suspend the House’s primary double storey volume, Richard O. Spencer and Leslie Guthrie’s design successfully circumvented the need for expensive, heavy foundation work. As the arch enters the interior it forms a balustrade for a mezzanine dining space that looks down upon the expansive living space.
