Thin-shelled concrete structures made possible via inflatable formwork, the Binishell was penned by Dr. Dante Bini whose work was heavily influenced by that of Buckminster Fuller and other visionary architects. The original Binishell boasts a circular, flexible plan with a rapid and inexpensive construction sequence that pared well with many industries. Locally, the system was most notably adopted by the Department of Public Works New South Wales with 14 examples constructed in schools through the 1970s.
