Casa Sert [1957]

Josep Lluís Sert

As noted by the New York Times after his death, Sert’s buildings tended to ‘combine a certain rigorous, geometric modernism with an air of casualness’ – and his own house in Boston, Massachusetts perfectly demonstrates this notion. With two sides self described by the architect as a ‘reversible raincoat’ – the house presents a face brick exterior that bounces off an all-white interior that opens to a central courtyard.
