Designed by prolific commercial architects Kahn & Jacobs, New York’s Terminal 8 at Idelwild (later JFK) Airport was a concrete prism that wrapped around a vibrant glazed curtain wall. Designed by American artist Robert Sowers, T8’s almost-100m long composition of stained glass was at the time the largest in the world. Unfortunately the building (and its facade) was unable to be saved to make way for a new American Airlines terminal in 2007.
