Rodica Chair [1968]

Mario Brunu

Imagery: Space: 1999

Not dissimilar to Ghyczy’s Garden Egg, Mario Bruno’s Rodica Chair sports a dynamic fibreglass base that rises to a hard outer shell softened by an upholstered interior, closely recalling the work of Colombo. Produced for Comfort in 1968, Bruno’s design would later feature on the sets of many Kubrick-tinged sci-fi film sets (notably Space: 1999) that for a brief moment intrinsically bound the worlds of new age design and space.
