Romanita Tower [1986]

Oleg Vronski

Once the tallest building in Republic of Moldova’s capital Chișinău, Romanita was commissioned by then-Soviet authorities to address the city’s housing needs. A fluted, cylindrical concrete shape engineered to taper towards a pair of basement floors, the Tower still stands today (though in disrepair) as a reminder of a widespread socialist housing typology.
