Union 76 Gas Station [1965]

Gin D. Wong

Gin D. Wong is largely responsible for the massive retro-futuristic architectural landscape of LA and beyond whose daring structures (most notably the LAX Theme Building) inspired a look forward and a subculture proliferated by The Jetsons and the like. Completing most of his work with Pereira & Luckman, Wong’s vision was thrust upon designs large and small, with an interesting portfolio of gas stations (like this Union 76 design) presenting engineering marvels to facilitate bold, almost-impossible structural feats.
