Robin Gibson

A beloved piece of the Australian brutalist landscape, Robin Gibson’s library has been praised for its flexible, open planning and careful articulation of simple geometric protrusions stemming from an overtly boxed form. Largely responsible for morphing Brisbane’s cityscape into that of a world class city, Gibson’s architectural forms as well as careful civic planning earned his firm (Robin Gibson & Partners, closed since his passing) a multitude of awards, together with an Order of Australia for his notable devotion to the creation of a broader cultural precinct within his hometown city of Brisbane.
