Grant and Mary Featherston are an integral part of the twentieth century’s design narrative in Australia and, unquestionably, beyond. They had a close companionship with iconic Modernist architect Robin Boyd, which is certainly evoked\u00a0in the details realised to form the\u00a0Featherston House. The brief contained a clause for a ‘shed-like’ structure with a focus on integrated landscaping (with reference to Boyd’s own house in South Yarra, now home to his Foundation) and this was developed into an open garden within the main living space, much to the admiration of the Featherston’s who held an affinity both with nature itself and its formal attributes drawn into\u00a0various furniture designs.
