The\u00a0Marin County Civic Center was both Frank Lloyd Wright’s last commission – and his largest foray into the realm of public domain works, though only seeing completion after his death. Positioned to serve both Marin County and San Francisco (after the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge had brought these two cities closer), Wright’s design was all-inclusive and emblematic of\u00a0his personal brand of organic Modernism. With a stark horizontality cut by curvilinear perforations throughout, Wright\u00a0blended the landscape (reportedly the most beautiful he had witnessed) with his\u00a0built form, with beautiful vaulted spaces, carefully articulated glazing and considered\u00a0detailing throughout.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
