In the midst of a full restoration and refurbishment following substantial earthquake damage in 2010\/11, the Christchurch Town Hall is an important piece of modern architectural constructivism in New Zealand and a product of a rigorous government-led competition that saw architects Sir Miles Warren and Maurice Mahoney gain the commission. Comprising\u00a0<\/span>a 2600-seat main auditorium, 1000-seat theatre, a stage box, two conference rooms, a restaurant and a pre-function foyer area. Bladed, masonry walls of various sizes offer a defining aesthetic, structurally integral but also key to the acoustic function of the space with much of the reverberation and associated formal analysis conducted by Dr. Harold Marshall, a pioneer of new-age acoustic spatial treatment.<\/p>\n
