Carol and Harvey Berman House [1975]

Leland Cott’s Berman House softens its primarily rectilinear, L-shaped masonry form with an expansive triangulated glazed pavilion that climbs to touch the parapet of the bedroom spaces above. Through clever treatment of volumes, openings and transparencies, Cott enables a direct conversation between shape and material – lending a playfulness to his Modernism.
