A residential complex of three stepped concreted forms, Belgrade’s Eastern City Gate stands as one of the most prominent features of its skyline and was envisioned to project the city’s strong, socialist idealism through an uncompromisingly late-Brutalist aesthetic. Situated against a highway on approach to the Serbian capital from the east, the complex has been in various states of disrepair since their completion, with residents currently fund-raising to privately support building works following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
