Designed in 1972 for then-little-know furniture house Ikea, Swedish designer Gillis Lundgren’s Impala suite of furniture mixes plush velour, veneer and chrome to deliver a masterclass in 70s styling. Lundgren was Ikea’s fourth employee and would later go on to design the Billy bookcase, a design synonymous with its makers cost-efficient, flat-pack philosophy that would later go on to sell over sixty million units worldwide.
