South African Embassy Paris [1974]

With a curtain wall facade that presents as a massive aluminium exoskeleton across three facades, the South African Embassy in Paris was designed and constructed to protect itself from demonstrators. Displaying interiors of contrasting marble, custom light fixtures and irregular geometric ceilings, its architects lent particular attention to the detailing of vast spaces which extend three storeys beneath ground.
